Who is Faruk Kurtulus?
After graduating from Private Saint-Michel French High School, she graduated from Beykent University Fine Arts Faculty Cinema Department with first place and then completed her Master’s Degree in Marmara University Fine Arts Faculty Photography Department.
His first encounter with yoga was when he was only 9 years old, by watching Sitare Kurtuluş, one of the students of Müheyya İzer, one of the pioneers of yoga in Turkey. He was always interested in oriental philosophy in his childhood and youth. She started yoga with Esra Karaosmanoğlu in 2002. After completing her teacher training with Zeynep Aksoy in 2009, she started to teach at Cihangir Yoga. He taught at this studio between 2010-2015. During this period, on the one hand, he studied and received training with many famous teachers in their fields such as Godfrey Devereux, Tias Little, Desire Rumbaugh, Paul Grilley, Chris Chavez, Sienna Sherman, Sean Corn and Edward Clark. She also took Yin Yoga training with Berivan Aslan, Yoga Therapy with Banu Çadırcı, and Vinyasa Yoga with Mey Elbi in Turkey. After completing another teacher training with Chris Chavez, she took Dynamic Yoga trainings from Godfrey Devereux in France and Italy. He generally received his education in Türkiye, India, Bulgaria, Italy and France. He participated in many different studies and gained experience in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Thailand and Spain. She took “Family Constellation” and “Zen Way of Counseling” trainings with Svagito Liebermeister in Istanbul and Bulgaria and assisted her in her training between 2010-2015. The experiences he gained in these trainings opened the door for the body sensitivity that yoga brought to him to be carried into the relationships he lived and thus to spread to every moment of his life.
All these experiences have expanded Faruk’s view of yoga and the way he teaches. In 2010, when she started giving studio classes, she started to do her own yoga camps. In 2013, he started to give Yoga Teacher Trainings. He founded his own brand, IFEELYOGA, in 2014. He trained hundreds of teachers. In her trainings, she combined yoga asana practice with active dance meditations, family synopsis, group work and film screenings about relationships, and supported the fact that yoga can be felt in every moment of life with an artistic approach.
After 22 years of self-directed research and training at the biggest studios in Istanbul, he won awards in Florence and Rome, Italy, for his first 5-minute short film “We Can Meet Again Only If We Are Ourselves” in 2019.
